Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 ‘wide’ will reportedly have a better inner display than the ‘Ultra’ model.
Breaking it down, Samsung is launching two ‘Fold’-style devices next month: a Fold Ultra, which is the model similar to the Z Fold 7 and the regular Fold, also called ‘Fold 8 Wide,’ which will sport a passport-folding style, instead of a book-like design.
ZDNET Korea reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 will reportedly have an inner display that’s 60μm thick, which is 30 per cent thicker than the ultra-thin-glass on the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
A thinner glass is less likely to break while folding, but a thicker one is more protected against drops and impacts, and they tend to look and feel better. The thicker display will also offer a better crease experience and should help the crease haters hate it a little less.
While the Fold 8 Ultra will reportedly offer a 45μm, the same as its predecessor, the wider one offering a 60μm should offer a better overall experience. However, let’s hope the Z Fold 8 doesn’t feel too thick.
