CBC, Bell and Corus to simulcast this year’s Canadian Screen Awards

Rogers is the only major Canadian broadcaster that isn't taking part

The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television (the Canadian Academy) has announced a first-of-its-kind deal that will see CBC, Bell Media and Corus simulcasting this year’s Canadian Screen Awards.

This means that the ceremony, set for May 31 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, will air live from Toronto’s CBC Broadcast Centre on CBC, CBC Gem, Crave, CTV, Global, and StackTV. It should be noted that Rogers, one of Canada’s other major broadcasters, did not participate in the deal.

Still, it’s a landmark agreement and should help bring more eyes to the Canadian arts, especially when it’s more important than ever to support our local creators.

The 2026 Canadian Screen Awards will be hosted by Calgary’s Andrew Phung, the star of the popular CBC sitcoms Kim’s Convenience and Run the Burbs. This year’s nominees will be announced on Wednesday, March 25 at 7 a.m. ET/4 a.m. PT on the Canadian Academy website.

The ceremony coincides with Canadian Screen Week 2026, which runs from Wednesday, May 27 to Sunday, May 31 in Toronto and celebrates the Canadian screen industry through various events. The full schedule can be found on the Canadian Academy’s website.

It’s worth noting that an unrelated event that celebrates another form of Canadian arts is also taking place in May. As confirmed this week, the 2026 Canadian Game Awards will be held during the XP Game Summit in Toronto, which takes place on May 21 and 22.
