The 2025 World Series returns to Toronto for the remaining games, and the Commissioner’s Trophy is going to be lifted on Canadian soil for the first time since the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies faced off in 1993.
Game six of the fall classic will take place at 8 p.m. ET on Halloween (Oct. 31), with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays squaring off for the chance to either take home a title or force the do-or-die game seven.
The Blue Jays are tapping Kevin Gausman to start the series-deciding game six. Gausman, 34, pitched 6.2 innings of three-run ball, striking out six batters and giving up home runs to Will Smith and Max Muncy. Who did the Jays lose to in that game? Well…
Yoshinobu Yamamoto will most likely get the start for the Dodgers to try and force a Game seven. In game two, Yamamoto pitched a complete game of one-run ball (his second complete game of the playoffs), striking out eight and giving up four hits.
Where to Watch
With the series heading back to the Rogers Centre, the number of viewing options for Jays fans increases (thankfully).
Although tickets directly from the team are sold out, verified resale tickets are still available if you are willing to pay the steep price to see the game live.
If you don’t want to pay a month’s rent to see the game at the Rogers Centre, there are a few public events (completely free) where you can view it. The City of Toronto is hosting its World Series viewing party at Nathan Phillips Square, where anyone can bring chairs, blankets, snacks and drinks.
For anyone west of the city, Mississauga’s Celebration Square (nicknamed the Bird’s Nest) will also host its free watch party, with pregame coverage starting an hour before the game’s start time. If you are east of the city, the Town of Ajax is also hosting a World Series watch party in the Ajax Town Hall’s Council Chambers, with light snacks provided. The doors will open for the event at 7:30 p.m. ET.
If you want to enjoy a bite to eat or maybe some refreshments while watching the game, bars, pubs, and restaurants around the city (including The Loose Moose, RendezViews, and Real Sports Bar & Grill) will also be showing the games, with some not taking reservations for World Series games at all.
Another free option as well is local radio. If you are located within the GTHA, Calgary, or Vancouver, the three Sportsnet-owned radio stations (590, 650, 960 The Fan) will be broadcasting the game with Ben Shulman on the call (note: NHL games in Calgary and Vancouver will affect the broadcasts).
If you don’t have a true AM/FM radio (or don’t want to sit in your car the whole game), I quickly tested three free apps on the Google Play Store called Simple Radio, RadioLy, and FM Radio : AM, FM, Radio Tuner which all work (outside of ads). Some are pushy for subscriptions, but they can play Sportsnet 590 The Fan perfectly fine, and I didn’t have to pay anything to listen. If you have access to XM radio ($29.99 per month for the MLB-streaming Platinum package), channels 175 and 176 will be carrying the game, with 175 carrying the Sportsnet broadcast crew.
If you want to relax at home and watch the game on TV, Rogers-owned Sportsnet and CityTV will be broadcasting it on their respective streaming services and satellite TV channels.
Although both will be broadcasting the game, there is a cost. Sportsnet+’s current rate for the base ‘standard package’ is $29.99 per month, or $249.99 per year. A small note: the Sportsnet+ app on streaming devices can be glitchy and unreliable at times. There is also a bundle on the Sportsnet+ webpage that includes both CityTV+ and Sportsnet+ for $31.99 per month, if you want a more well-rounded streaming option that isn’t just sports.
If you have a subscription to Amazon Prime, you can get a seven-day free trial of CityTV+ (which is carrying the game as previously mentioned) through the Amazon Prime Video App.
If you know someone with a satellite TV subscription, you can use that subscription to log in to Sportsnet+ or CityTV+ and stream the game through the platform.
