A few months after being questioned by the CRTC over how expensive roaming has gotten, Bell has followed in the footsteps of Koodo and started selling bundled roaming passes.
The telecom’s four roaming options are listed below;
- Single-day U.S. roaming – $13
- Single-day international roaming – $16
- Seven-day Caribbean and Mexico roaming – $70
- 14-day European roaming – $70
Unlike Koodo, there’s no option to bundle a week of U.S. roaming. That said, unless you really need access to your phone number, for most people we’d recommend just getting a temporary eSIM card instead of paying the carriers’ high roaming costs.
If you want to sign up for one of Bell’s roaming bundles, you can do so in the MyBell app or on by texting the company. For standard single-day roaming send ROAM to 8000. For the Caribbean and Mexico pass text 7DAYPASS to 4400. The European pass is EURO14 to 4400.
At the end of the day, most carriers have plans with built-in U.S. and/or Mexico roaming for frequent travellers and people looking for a good deal. Freedom Mobile and Public Mobile have some of the cheapest options with Canada/U.S./Mexico data. Some Freedom plans also come with a bit of roaming data you can use in 100+ destinations around the world.
