iPhone 17 to feature new cooling tech: report

Apple is said to be taking a cue from Android phones and adopting vapor chamber cooling

Apple will reportedly include new cooling technology in the iPhone 17 to address overheating issues.

According to the Chinese outlet MyDrivers (via WCCFtech), Apple’s next flagship series will feature a “vapor chamber cooling” system, which spreads heat evenly across a larger surface area. Naturally, this will help reduce heat buildup and maintain consistent performance.

While vapor chamber cooling would be new for iPhones, it’s a pretty common inclusion in Android phones from the likes of Samsung and Google. This comes after numerous reports of overheating iPhone 15 devices, an issue that was improved, but seemingly not entirely fixed, on 16 handsets. Hopefully, this vapor chamber cooling system would eliminate the problem entirely for the iPhone 17 series.

As always, Apple is expected to debut its next flagship series in September. So far, rumours suggest that the iPhone 17 family will include an A19 chip, an improved selfie camera and an ultra-thin ‘Air’ model that replaces the ‘Plus.’

Before that, though, the company is expected to launch a new addition to its lower-cost iPhone SE product line, which would be its first since 2022. Rumoured to be released by April, the phone will reportedly sport an iPhone 14-like design, a crisper OLED screen that stretches across the full device and Apple Intelligence.
