In anticipation of Twitter’s first Thursday Night Football livestream, which won’t be available in Canada, the social media platform has launched HD video streaming apps for Xbox One and the 4th Generation Apple TV — both of which actually will be available up North.
Not only that, the apps bring with them additional streaming content. MobileSyrup has independently confirmed with Twitter Canada that while Canadians won’t be getting all the content that our U.S. counterparts will see, we will see a fair amount.
Among the programs included are MLB out-of-market games (starting in 2017), two new NBA highlight shows, select PGA Tour golf tournaments, select U.S. college football games, three Bloomberg news shows (Bloomberg West, What’d You Miss? and All Due Respect), The Rally sports highlight show and Cheddar news.
The app provides an interesting dual-screen experience, with live video taking up one side of the screen, while the other half can be occupied by live tweets– providing a sort of social media-curated instant replay.
Twitter has previously released a Periscope app for Apple TV.
