After months of speculation, visual representations of the next edition of Samsung’s Galaxy Note series have finally surfaced. The phone, which is now expected to be titled Note 7 rather than Note 6 for simplicity of branding, is shown in images created by well-known tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (@Onleaks) and mobile news site uSwitch.
The images are not sourced from Samsung itself, but derived from Hemmerstoffer’s memory and created using 3D modeling. The pictures confirm several rumours that have cropped up so far about the device, including the rumour that it will feature a USB-C port, making it the first Samsung phone to claim that distinction.
The images also show multiple sensors at the top of the phone, lending credence to the rumour that this Note will have iris-scanning capabilities, which would allow device owners to use the distinctive pattern of their iris as a scannable key to securely unlock their phone.
Hemmerstoffer says according to his source, this curved-screen device is the regular Note 7, eliminating the need for a special curved edition.
The screen size, reports uSwitch, is between 5.7 and 5.8 inches, while the dimensions are purportedly 153.5mm x 73.9mm x 7.9mm.
What’s more, prolific leaker Evan Blass (@Evleaks) recently tweeted that the launch for the device was almost exactly two months away, putting the release date in early August.
This is welcome news for Samsung followers who have grown ever more impatient as fantastic details filter through an array of sources of varying repute. Among those: QHD OLED display, 6GB of RAM, a 4,000mAh battery, Snapdragon 823 SoC and potentially a lite version.
