Apple increases Canadian price of AppleCare+ across its entire iPhone lineup

iPhone 6s

With the impending release of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus coming up, Canadian consumers will have to pay a lot if they want to have their new iPhone covered by Apple’s extended warranty plan, AppleCare+.

For the newly announced iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, the plan, which extends the complimentary one year coverage Apple provides with most of its devices, costs $169. At time of its Canadian launch, AppleCare+ for the iPhone 6 was priced at $99. Apple has also increased the fee for servicing a new iPhone from $79 to $129.

Likewise, AppleCare+ for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 5s has increased to $129 CAD from its previous price point of $99.

Correction: A previous version of this article said that Telus is only national carrier to provide AppleCare+. That was incorrect.

They’re the only carrier to provide a flexible payment options when it comes to Apple’s extended warranty plan. When we contacted the company to find how the price hike will affect its unique offering, Donna Ramirez, a spokesperson for the company said, “Everything’s still really fresh, so we don’t have any details to share at this time, but we’ll be sure to follow-up with you when we do.”
