The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge were unveiled a week ago and Samsung seemed to have heard the criticism from when the Galaxy S5 was released. Both new flagships come with a premium design and outfitted in metal and glass. Early remarks from JK Shin, head of Samsung’s mobile division, said, “pre-orders of the two Galaxy variants from our major clients are really huge.”
While Samsung isn’t giving any official numbers, an unknown executive from the company has spoken to Korea Times and stated, “Samsung received some 20 million pre-orders for the S6 and S6 Edge — 15 million of S6 and five million of the S6 Edge from mobile carriers, worldwide. This is the record.”
Of course, pre-orders are vastly different than actual sales. However, if true, to put this number into perspective, the Galaxy S4 sold 16 million units within the first three months and the Galaxy S5 sold 12 million units in the same time period.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge will be available in Canada on April 10th and prices range from $250 to $1020. Confirmed carriers are Bell, TELUS, Rogers, Fido, Virgin Mobile, WIND Mobile, Videotron, MTS, SaskTel, Eastlink and Koodo Mobile.
