SurfEasy VPN overhauls its Android app, makes it faster to connect to geographically-restricted content

SurfEasy, the Toronto-based and mobile-friendly VPN service that allows users to anonymize traffic while browsing and circumvent geographic restrictions at the same time, has significantly updated its Android app.

The service gives all users 500MB for free per month, with a $2.99/month or $29.99/year charge for a single mobile license with unlimited bandwidth over WiFi or cellular.

Though the functionality has stayed the same — users choose a region, including the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Singapore, Germany and, of course, Canada — to connect to, generating a new IP address for traffic to be routed through.

While many users will find solace in knowing their traffic is anonymized and cannot be tracked by most websites, most others will take advantage of the geographic alterations to access services like US Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Spotify, BBC iPlayer and more.

The new Android app has been redesigned with a brand new interface that feels fresh and performs well. Users can also access free data rewards that SurfEasy offers for referrals and completing tasks.

While there are other options for VPN services, I’ve found SurfEasy to be consistently fast, reliable and inexpensive. The company also makes apps for iOS, OS X and Windows.
