Solid news for Videotron customers today! According to this internal document the upcoming Android OS 4.0 Galaxy Nexus is heading to Videotron, “specific plans concerning this device will be announced in the New Year”. So if Videotron is “currently in discussions with Samsung”, then you can bet WIND and Mobilicity are too. C’est Magnifique!
More info soon!
(Thanks tipster!)
I’m with Rogers right now and my contract expires next February. If Wind carries this phone, Rogers will get double middle fingers from me and see me running over to a Wind store near me.

Same here. Contract wit rogers expires in march, but will surely breach it to go with the 40$ student data plan on videotron. Say goodbye to rogers treating me like crap.

Just to be clear, the Videotron/Wind Galaxy Nexus will the same as the Bell/Rogers/Telus Galaxy Nexus since the GSM/HSPA+ phone is compatible with both 3G networks, right?

Yes, the GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus is Pentaband, meaning it will work on the Big 3 as well as Wind/Mobilicity/Videotron. However, rumour has it that the Bell version is going to be carrier locked, so we’ll have to see if that’s true (as well as for other carriers).

Yes, the Vieotron/Wind Galaxy Nexus will be the same as the Bell/Rogers/Telus Galaxy Nexus.
It’s a pentaband phone, aka it works with everyone’s HSPA network.

Regarding: “rumour has it that the Bell version is going to be carrier locked, so we’ll have to see if that’s true”
Don’t believe the hype. Like all Google developer phones they are SIM unlocked and only SIM unlocked. This phone was not made for the carrier (e.g. Bell) it was made for Google/Android developers and Bell has simply chosen to carry it.
This phone, like the Nexus S & Nexus One before it is SIM Unlocked regardless of what the futureshop, Bell/Virgin Retail doofus clerks tell you.

Agreed. I’ve checked with both FutureShop and Best Buy employees: the Nexus will be sold unlocked; however, you MUST purchase it with some sort of plan (for the foreseeable future)

A phone like the GN could give Wind a huge lead against the other new entrants and make Wind one step closer to making the Big 3 the Big 4. I hope GN comes out on Wind for the company’s and it’s consumer’s sake alike.

If WIND carries it I’m jumping from Virgin/Bell. Sick to death of their data charges.

Bell’s version is not carrier locked. Just like the other Nexus phones they are all sold unlocked. Proof? People are already reporting using Bell versions on WIND without an unlock.
