Bell pushing out “Self Serve” app for Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm 9530 and Tour 9630

Thanks to a tipster who notified up that on January 20th Bell will be pushing out an free app called “Self Serve”. The choice devices to receive this app are the Palm Pre, BlackBerry Storm 9530 and BlackBerry Tour 9630.

The app is free and will give customers the ability to have one-click access to the Self Serve home page. The Self Serve area allows you to check your account balance, monitor and manage your voice, data, events and text messaging usage, add features and register for pre-authorized credit card payments.

The app icon looks like the above image and you;ll be able to download it from the Palm App Catalog and BlackBerry App World.

    1. All they need now is an app for iPhone! One that actually works.

    2. Now this is awesome. However, they really should have just designed a mobile web page with the same abilities. Then we could use it for every phone (that can handle mobile web pages).

    3. When I call Bell/Rogers on my cell phone, the call doesn’t count against my minutes.

So, when I use the self-serve app on my phone, I would hope that this would not count against my data usage.

Obviously, this is most important if I have no data plan at all.

    4. Yeah, I’m really annoyed by this fad for creating apps that only work on one device (not even all Bb or whatever) when a simple WAP page would suffice and would work on any device’s browser!

Obviously there’s cases where you want/need the power of a device’s API and/or want to take advantage of a particular device’s feature.

But this instance just screams universally accessible WAP site – not dedicated device app.

    5. Well, it’s the 24th and I still don’t see this in the App Catalog.

    6. It’s Jan. 25th, I just called Bell Tech. Support and they’ve never heard of it. No app like this for Blackberry either.
I kept getting referred to the Self Serve on the bell.ca website.
