Rogers-owned Fido is offering some customers special plans like $50/130GB with bonus U.S. and long-distance minutes.
A Fido customer took to the r/FidoMobile subreddit to share some exclusive offers they received from Fido, and some of the offers look pretty good. Here’s a list of the special plans:
- $50/mo 130GB with 1,000 U.S. and 1,000 international long-distance minutes
- $55/mo 140GB with 1,000 U.S. and 1,000 international long-distance minutes
- $60/170GB with Canada/U.S. usage
While it’s not immediately clear from the screenshot, these plans all presumably offer unlimited Canada-wide talk and text as well. Also, Fido doesn’t offer 5G service, so the plans all have 4G data with speeds capped at up to 150Mbps.
On one hand, those offers are certainly better than Fido’s current in-market plans. For example, Fido has a $59/60GB plan with Canada/U.S. calling ($54 with autopay), which is significantly less than the similarly priced $55/140GB and $60/170GB plans above.
On the other hand, these special offers suffer from a familiar problem of just adding more data in hopes it will entice someone to switch. The Fido customer who shared the offers noted they paid $43/mo for 55GB of data, but if they don’t use all 55GB, it probably doesn’t make sense to upgrade to a more expensive plan with more data.
Plus, with Black Friday on the horizon, it might make sense to wait and see what offers come. There might be better deals in November than a $50/130GB plan.
Regardless, if you’re with Fido, you’ll want to check your account for potential offers.
