Google+ for Android adds Auto Awesome notifications, bug fixes

Google recently released a pretty major update to Google+ for Android, so this week it is ironing out any leftover bugs.

The app has been updated to 4.1.1, and though it’s light on new features, there is one that G+ photographers will enjoy. Auto Awesome notifications have been added to the app, letting you know when you create a moving masterpiece — or rather, when Google does on your behalf.

Auto Awesome was a feature added to Google+ back in May at Google I/O, along with a number of photo-centric boosts to the service. It automatically joins several similar photos (five or more) into an animated GIF. The results can be boring (see below) or quite interesting, depending on the subject matter, but there is little work on the user’s part other than holding down that shutter button.

The update is rolling out now to all Android users, so head to the Play Store and get downloading.
