A tragic event occurred today in Toronto.

A rental van drove onto the sidewalk killing nine and injuring 16 pedestrians, according to The Toronto Star.

Due to a police investigation now spanning across several city blocks, subway service has halted from Finch Station to Sheppard Station.

For those impacted by the emergency transit closures, Lyft is offering discounted service.

“Toronto, our hearts are with you. For those impacted by emergency transit closures on Yonge between Sheppard and Finch, we’re here to help with free Lyft Line rides up to $15 to or from all TTC Line 4 stations to anywhere within North York,” reads a recent email sent out by the San Francisco-based ridesharing company.
