Starting on November 12th at 10pm, Canadians will be able to watch Long Time Running, a documentary that chronicles The Tragically Hip’s final 2016 tour, on CraveTV, Bell Media announced on Tuesday.
Long Time Running originally premiered this past October on CTV. It will be available on CraveTV, Bell’s over-the-top streaming platform, following an encore presentation on the channel scheduled for Sunday, November 12th at 8pm EST.
The documentary was directed by Canadian filmmaking duo Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas de Pencier, best known for their work on Manufactured Landscapes, Act of God and Watermark. It includes behind-the-scenes interviews and footage of the band performing during last year’s Man Machine Poem tour. The documentary culminates in the Hip’s final hometown concert, which was broadcast on national television last year.
Hip frontman Gord Downie passed away on October 17th from glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Downie was 53 at the time. Across Canada, Downie’s death was met with almost universal heartache. In an emotional press conference, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau cried as he paid respect to the singer.
