In all honestly it’s a shame to see RIM going through such a troubled time theses days. Their stock price has fallen about 35% since Friday and news rushed through web today that Brian Wallace, Vice President Media and Digital Marketing for RIM, bolted to join Samsung. However, there is a slight glimpse of hope in the future for new products. Just before BlackBerry World 2011 co-CEO Jim Balsillie stated that “we absolutely have a whole next generation of smartphones” and today RIM offhandedly confirmed a few unannounced devices.
RIM posted a note to their developer community regarding screen resolutions to ensure their apps work on devices that will run off the new BlackBerry 7 OS. They listed the recently announced BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900/9930, and also the new Curve 9360 (will have a screen resolution of 480×360), the Torch 2 9810 will have a screen resolution of 480×640, and the all-touch 9850 will also have a 480×800 resolution. There is really nothing earth shattering as all these devices have leaked online over the past few months, but it’s good to see RIM still plowing ahead.
