Rogers Wireless has UMA in its future…

UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) allows people who own a GSM phone with wifi enabled to use a wifi signal as the default connection to make outbound calls, texts, or receive calls and texts when a regular GSM signal is not available. If you are a customer of Rogers Wireless and want to change your service plan for you mobile phone, they have recently added a link on their website titled “Register for UMA service”. However, this page does not exist when you click the link. They are currently gaging the interest and also preparing us for the future of mobile phones. Rogers one of a few participants of UMA Technology (others include British Telecom, T-Mobile, Nokia and Samsung) and we think they will be introducing UMA service sometime in the near future.
