It seems so long ago now that new wireless entrant Mobilicity (formally known as Dave Wireless) came out swinging with their go-to-market brand identity. Remember that day? It was two and a half months ago on February 2nd. Since that glorious day we’ve basically heard nothing from them about their anticipated planned springtime Toronto launch…Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa will follow.
President Dave Dobbin stated that “Mobilicity will kick the value equation up a notch this spring. If you live and work in one of our cities and you’re looking for the best wireless deal around, you’re going to love Mobilicity”.
When Mobilicity launches their wireless service we’ve heard they’ll offer BlackBerry, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and even Google’s Nexus One will work on their network. Regarding price plans, they’ll have unlimited plans but no word on what those plans include or what they’ll be priced at. The “Mobilicity” tag line is “My Phone, My City, My Way” and they will bank on customers who’ll most likely stay within their city “zones”. Once you exit out of the zones you’ll jump onto Rogers as they have a roaming agreement with them. One new addition that we found is a live link on their site dedicated to plans… but it only states “This is the temporary plans page. More content will be coming soon”. Possibly a sign of things to come.
From looking at their job board it shows active hiring in all locations. In addition, back in March the CRTC started it’s ownership review of Dave Wireless, so we know there is progress. I also understand that building a network from scratch is a huge task to take on and I’m sure they want to get a flawless network launch out of the gate.
Remember the press release they sent out boldly announcing that “Competition is Coming”? Well, we also want more competition in Canada and if we’re “going to love Mobilicity” all we’re saying is give us something to love. Don’t leave us wondering. Start a conversation with your potential customers.
