BlackBerry Z30s with malfunctioning screens after 10.3 update will get warranties extended

Z30

BlackBerry’s 10.3 OS has not been kind to the 18 month-old old Z30.

Versions 10.3.1.2243 and 10.3.1.2267 of the BlackBerry OS are said to be causing the screens of some Z30s to stop functioning.

BlackBerry, thankfully, is taking steps to remedy the problem. The company added a note to its knowledge base recently, saying it will extend the limited warranty of Z30 devices affected by the problem to April 15, 2015.

In order to see if they’re eligible to take advantage of the extension, Z30 owners are being asked to send their device’s PIN number in an email to BlackBerryZ30RepairRequest@blackberry.com. The company will then provide instructions on how proceed with a repair.

BlackBerry has not stated how many Z30s are being affected by the issue.
