Canada’s largest gaming expo returns to Edmonton in June with big new industry event

Game Con Canada will host the first-ever North American Games Industry Summit, with Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell in attendance

Canada’s largest gaming convention just got even bigger.

Alberta-based organizer Meibel Consulting has announced that its popular Game Con Canada show will return to the Edmonton Expo Centre this June alongside a new industry-focused event. The main consumer-centric show will run from June 19-21, and this year, Meibel will also host the business-to-business (B2B) North American Games Industry Summit (NAGIS) in partnership with video game fintech company Xsolla from June 18 to 19.

At NAGIS, developers and tech companies will be able to meet with financiers and other partners to network and strike deals. It’s a great way for small and big organizations alike to come together, which will ultimately help Canada’s $5.1 billion gaming industry.

Notably, NAGIS will also give Western Canada a major B2B gaming event alongside Quebec’s Montreal International Games Summit (MIGS) and Ontario’s XP Gaming Summit on in the east. Meibel has also already secured a big-name guest for the inaugural NAGIS: industry legend Nolan Bushnell, the co-founder of Atari. It’s also worth noting that NAGIS is being organized in collaboration with industry luminaries like Bushnell’s son, Brent, as well as the likes of Mark Darrah (BioWare Edmonton alum), Edmonton Screen CEO Luke Azevedo and Xsolla chief marketing and growth officer Berkley Egenes.

Meanwhile, the main Game Con Canada show is expected to grow this year, having welcomed over 40,000 attendees in 2025. Full programming details for it (and NAGIS) will be revealed in the coming months, but expect booths featuring playable games, tabletop experiences, celebrity guests, cosplay shows and more. For context, last year’s show included exhibitors like EB Games Canada, Asus, Intel, Devolver Digital, and Warhammer, celebrity guests like Scream‘s Matthew Lillard, Grand Theft Auto‘s Steven Ogg and Mass Effect‘s Mark Meer (those last two actually both being from Edmonton), and more.

Day passes for adults are $45, while weekend passes cost $108. Children (6-12) and youth (13-17) can get reduced rates. Tickets are available on the Game Con Canada website.

Given that there aren’t many consumer gaming events in Canada, Game Con Canada definitely seems worth checking out, especially since it’s been growing steadily since its inaugural 2023 show. MobileSyrup will be attending this year, so stay tuned for more.
