LG has announced its newest premium smartphone, the LG V35 ThinQ, as an exclusive through AT&T and Google’s Project Fi in the United States.
The headlining feature of the device is its ‘Intelligent Camera’ — also present on its new flagship, the G7 ThinQ. LG’s AI cam recognizes 19 categories including pets, food, landscapes and people, and suggests four enhanced filter options for each specific scene. For instance, with a food picture it might amp up the vibrancy of colours to make the photo more appealing.
The rear camera setup features two 16-megapixel shooters, one with a f/1.9 aperture and 107-degree wide angle view, and the other with a f/1.6 and 71-degree wide angle view.
Another marquee element is the 6-inch QHD+ OLED display, which supports HDR10 and features a long 18:9 aspect ratio.
As for internal specs, the V35 ThinQ runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
When it comes to audio, the V35 ThinQ’s specs once again put it above most premium smartphones.
The V35 ThinQ features DTS:X Virtual Surround Sound — a technology that, when properly implemented, tricks the listener’s ears into perceiving a surround sound experience through just one speaker or device.
It also has a Hi-Fi Quad digital-to-analog converter (DAC), which makes for an enhanced audio experience through wired speakers or headphones. Meanwhile, MQA Hi-Fi streaming plays lossless audio from compatible streaming services, providing the ability to listen to high-quality music without downloading large song files.
AT&T announced that the V35 ThinQ will arrive in stores on June 8th, with pre-orders beginning this Friday. It will cost $900 USD.
MobileSyrup has confirmed with LG that there is “no planned Canadian availability for this device.”
The LG G7 ThinQ, which offers many of the same features, will be available in stores in Canada as of June 1st. Pre-orders last until tomorrow and come with a free gift of a 4K smart TV.
Update 6/1/2018: Updated with response from LG regarding Canadian availability.
