The HTC Vive’s Deluxe Audio Strap, which the company initially revealed back at CES, is set to cost $99 USD (about $130 CAD) with a loose June shipping date, according to a recent tweet from the company. Pre-orders for the headset will reportedly open on May 2nd.
The Vive Deluxe Audio Strap moves the headset in line with the Oculus Rift in terms of build quality. While the Vive is a more technically advanced and immersive headset thanks to its full room-scale tracking, Oculus has always had an advantage in terms of fit and comfort.
The Headset’s Tracker, an accessory that can be attached to real-world objects, allowing them to be used in VR, is also set to cost $99 USD, with a developer release date of March 27th. A full consumer release of the Tracker will follow later this year.
We’ve reached out to HTC for specific information regarding Canadian pricing and availability of both accessories.
