Amazon is heavily rumoured to be entering the smartphone space in the coming months. A new image has surfaced online, courtesy of BGR, that shows off what this new smartphone could end look like.
It’s known that Amazon will take a similar route as they did with the Kindle Fire tablets and launch with a customized version of Android. Specific specs were omitted, but apparently it “is reasonably comfortable to use with one hand.” Rumours have the display coming in at 4.7-inches, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, and “six individual camera modules,” including “four front-facing infrared cameras” that will able to snap pics in 3D.
The report noted that it’s definitely heading to the United States through AT&T and will possibly have some sort of ‘Prime Data’ bundle that gives users an allotment of streaming video and music for free. There is no word on if or when Canadians will get a taste of the “Kindle Phone.” If we do it’ll certainly lack many of the needed media services. The Amazon phone is expected to be unveiled next month and officially launch sometime during the third quarter.
