According to their findings, the cumulative revenues of the top 250 tech companies accounted for $85 billion in 2013, up 2.4% over last year. Taking top spot once again was BlackBerry, but the results significantly slipped in revenues by a whopping 40% to $11.8 billion. BlackBerry has held onto first place for the past five years. Depending on BlackBerry’s earnings, Branham notes there might be a “very dramatic effect on next years listing… and perhaps may lead to a change in the top spot.”
The Big Three carriers were well represented, but all dropped a spot. Bell came in third, TELUS in fourth spot, followed by Rogers in fifth. Similar to last year, the carriers racked up combined revenues of $27 billion and “continued their dominance on the Canadian wireless and internet market in 2013.”
