CyanogenMOD 9 Music app released, available even to non-rooters

The CyanogenMOD team has done a lot for Android innovation, but much of it hasn’t been made accessible for the general public’s benefit. However CM9 Music is now available as a stand-alone app and competes with PowerAMP for most feature-filled Android music app.

It has full theme engine support so you can make it look like whatever you want (including Google Music); it includes a full range of gestures, including being able to flip the phone onto its face to stop the music, and pick it back up to start it (which I think is genius); and it has the ability to create custom drag-and-drop queues as well as change the look of the lock screen.

CM9 Music will be incorporated into the nightly builds of CyanogenMOD9 for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S, and will be coming to the Marketplace soon with a different name.

Unfortunately, the app is only available to those running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as it uses the OS’s latest APIs. Check it out at Seeing Pixels, and let us know what you think.
