Virgin releases first Android device… HTC Legend

Well a big congrats to Virgin Mobile as they have managed to become the first carrier in North America to launch the Android-powered HTC Legend. We’re guessing Bell really wants to step up and set their sub-brand apart from all the others. If they keep going in this direction they certainly will.

This is also their first Android device also and it can be yours for $79.99 on a 3-year contract and $349.99 no-contract. Specs of this beauty are that it comes with OS 2.1 with HTC Sense, 3.2-inch display, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, flash and video capabilities, Wi-Fi, 3.5 mm audio jack, can hold up to 32GB with a microSD card, music player, FM radio. Overall dimensions are 112 x 56.3 x 11.5mm with a weight of 126 grams.

Check it out here at Virgin

(But honestly… why buy a Legend when you could possibly win one! Enter our “Win the Android you want Contest” here)

  16. It appears that it can be unlocked.
Mobileincanada has added an option in their unlocking page to unlock Virgin Mobile HTC Phones. As far as I know the Legend is their only HTC HSPA phone…

And yes it would work with full Rogers 3G.

Nice troll. Do you even know the difference between an ARM11 core and a Cortex-A8 ?

    Ya i didn’t think so.

Again, enjoy your 4 year old device.

  21. @ Abe Z

The X10 price is almost 2 times that of the Legend. Plus not everyone is looking for a high end android phone, the Legend is a very good mid tier android phone for a very good price.

  22. Two times the price? What type of math are you doing? The X10 is 550 no contract and its well worth that price.

  23. Not everyone has $550 to throw at a phone…shocking as that may sound!! :O hahaha
So for $350 it isn’t a bad phone. Stop being such a party pooper! lol

  24. “And yes it would work with full Rogers 3G.”

Unless Virgin has a model that runs on different frequencies than the international version than no it can’t run on Rogers 3G.

    According to wikipedia…

    HTC Legend: HSPA/WCDMA 900 + 2100 MHz

    Rogers Wireless: UMTS/HSPA on the 850 + 1900 MHz
