Globalive is ready to set up show and become Canada’s next national carrier. They’ve hired hundreds of staff, started constructing stores in major cities and have a whole lineup of devices ready to be purchased.
They already have been given the go ahead by Industry Canada but the major drawback came a few weeks ago when the CRTC stalled them from launching their network due to not meeting the Canadian ownership rules. Law is law and currently Industry Minister Tony Clement is reviewing the entire case and will be deciding over the next couple weeks to see if they’ll be able to actually launch.
In the meantime it seems the Canadian public are taking to web and showing their support for the possible new carrier. Do most Canadians feel like this guy:

I totally agree, I am tired of this, we need competition to get better services and pricing.

I would definitely think so…

I wonder if he was one of the people who applied for Wind and then got laid off

No I was not one of the people laid off – I just have too much time on my hands!

Cool video Eugene, I agree, Canada needs to be fair with voice and data plans. We are getting further and further behind as a country because of this!

If you love WIND so much? Why did you just lock yourself in with a new phone?

I dispute that they are ready to set-up shop. Their network is not ready, their stores are not ready and I doubt they have many handsets ready.
I think this is all a clever marketing ploy to make it look like their launch has been delayed when in reality they won’t be ready until the new year anyways.
None of the other new entrants are ready so why is everyone so quick to believe that Globalive is ready to go and only delayed by the CRTC ruling? If they were really ready they would open their stores and start promoting themselves as coming soon. They would demonstrate their network in action. And then when people asked why they couldn’t buy a phone yet Wind could blame the government.
Wind is full of hot air.

Hey Scott, the reason I got an iPhone is because I was sick of un-reliable blackberries. As soon as we get some new carriers I sell the iPhone (to pay for my early contract termination) and hop on with Dave or WIND

TNSF – They are ready to launch in Calgary and Toronto, where they said they where going to launch first. The rest of the major cities will be in the new year. All depending on this CRTC garbage
