Canadians sent 23.3 billion text messages in Q1 2012


Texting is still one of the preferred methods of communicating for Canadians. In 2011 the CWTA (Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association) announced that there was 78 billion text messages sent, up almost 28% from last year.

Today the CWTA has released text numbers from Q1 2012 and yet again show an increase, now hitting 23.3 billion sent text messages for the 3-month period. March was highlighted for the standout month, representing 7.9 billion texts, or approximately 254 million texts per day. In addition, Canadians also sent 122 million MMS messages in the quarter.
