Microsoft CEO: Cybersecurity Tech Accord is the ‘digital Geneva Convention of our times’

The Cybersecurity Tech Accord was signed by Microsoft, Facebook and 32 other tech companies

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said today at Build 2018 that his company is committed to protecting citizens around the world from cyberattacks.

Referencing the Cybersecurity Tech Accord — signed by Microsoft, Facebook and 32 other tech companies — Nadella said that the pledge is the “digital Geneva Convention of our times.”

Nadella also said that his company is working to protect the U.S. from unlawful election interference.

“We recently formed a program to protect our democracy where we’re going to work with the campaigns, the civic society, other constituents… so we can secure our political process, our democratic process,” said Nadella.

“We need to act with collective responsibility across the tech sector to help keep the world safe.”
