Samsung “temporarily suspending” Galaxy S OS 2.2 upgrade

Ever since the upgrade to Android OS 2.2 Froyo upgrade went live for the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant customers have been complaining of phones dying and becoming basically a brick. Finally some official news from Samsung about the issue. They sent us an e-mail and also stated on Facebook the following note to Vibrant users:

“We are continuing to investigate issues that some users have reported while completing the upgrade to Android 2.2. In the interim, we are taking the extra precaution of temporarily suspending the upgrade as a download from Kies. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that clients contact 1-800-751-4078 or sh.support@samsung.com if they have any further questions.”

This is just for the Vibrant upgrade. Both the Captivate and the Fascinate are  supposed to be upgraded shortly. No word if these have been delayed.
