As UberEATS celebrates its first full year in Toronto, it’s also expanding into Ottawa.
While Uber announced earlier this year that it had no plans to roll out UberEATS outside the GTA, it appears the company has changed its mind.
As of May 9, Ottawa residents have been able to receive delivery trips, though the service was only opened to a small test group for the first few days, however the launch is arriving publicly in “the next few days.”
At the time of that announcement, Uber had announced its expansion into ten additional American cities.
Toronto was the first Canadian city to integrate UberEATS, and the company claims it has expanded the program into over 100 cities thus far.
CTV reports that several Ottawa-based food service companies have expressed interest in joining UberEATS, including Ace Mercado, Luxe Bistro, EVOO Greek Kitchen, Kettleman’s Bagel Co., Art Is In Bakery, El Camino, Datsun, Sens House, Lowertown Brewery, The Hitonburg Public House and Slice & Co. Pizza.
