Big news for fans of Google’s ATAP division from the company’s I/O developer conference today. During a keynote presentation on ATAP’s activities, Project Tango lead Johnny Lee confirmed that LG will produce a “consumer level” Project Tango device next year.
Project Tango is designed to track 3D movement using a multitude of cameras and vision processors, and is currently being used by NASA robots on the International Space Station. Little detail is currently available on exactly what type of consumer level device LG will produce, but it is worth noting that Google recently expanded Project Tango to include tablets, so there potential it might not be a smartphone.
