Telus CEO Darren Entwistle will retire on June 30 and will be succeeded by Victor Dodig, Telus board member and former CIBC president. This comes after Enwistle’s 26-year tenure as the company’s president and CEO.

Effective July 1, 2026, Dodig will be president and CEO of Teus. Dodig served on the Telus Board of Directors as an Independent Director since May 2022, became CEO Designate effective now and joins the Telus leadership team on May 1, 2026, to enable a seamless transition.

When Entwistle steps down from the Telus board in June 2026, he will be accorded the title CEO Emeritus. And further, Entwistle will act as an advisor to Dodig until April 30, 2027.

Dodig joins Telus after serving as CIBC’s President and CEO from 2014 to 2025, where he delivered “strong shareholder returns.”

The news release describes Entwistle’s time at Telus with a sampling of the team’s achievements over the course of 26 years. It also says that “under his stewardship, TELUS has consistently generated operational and financial results that are world leading, establishing a track record of driving global-best outcomes for its team members, customers, communities and shareholders.”

However, in the last three years, the company has laid off thousands of employees.
