Warframe on Android launching first in Canada in February

Rather fitting since the game was made by London, Ontario's Digital Extremes

Warframe Android

Canadian developer Digital Extremes has announced that Warframe will launch on Android in February.

In a blog post, the London, Ont.-based studio said its popular multiplayer action-RPG/shooter will release on Google Play on Feb. 11 in Canada, followed by a global rollout on the 18th. The company adds that you’ll need a phone running 64-bit Android on an ARM64 processor, Android OS 12.0 or higher, and a minimum 4GB of RAM.

Notably, the Android version is the full Warframe experience that’s also available across consoles, PC and, as of February 2024, iOS. It should be noted that Warframe is free-to-play with in-app purchases, and cross-play is supported.

To celebrate the Android launch, DE says anyone who pre-registers via the Google Play Store and logs in by March 4 will receive the special Cumulus Collection. This pack includes:

  • Cirrus Armour Bundle
  • Cumulus Syandana
  • Stratus Pistol Skin
  • Spektaka Color Palette
  • 3-Day Resource Booster

Despite being over 12 years old, Warframe remains quite popular, maintaining a high player base and even drawing thousands of fans to London every year for the DE-hosted TennoCon event. Tickets for this year’s show, which takes place on July 10 and 11, will go live on Feb. 27. The mobile version also comes after the release of the big The Old Peace expansion in December and a fun partnership with famed German filmmaker Werner Herzog.

Throughout all of this, DE is also working on an unrelated fantasy action-RPG, Soulframe, which is currently being tested with the community through “Preludes” pre-alpha releases.
