Sony debuted two curious accessories today for its newly-released Xperia Z2 flagship. Though the device does not natively support wireless charging, Sony’s new Wireless Charging Cover and companion Charging Plate offers such functionality.
Employing the dock pins included on the device, the Charging Cover is a folio-type leather cover that doubles as a stand. The cover will work with any Qi-compatible stand, but Sony is selling its own circular version if that piques your interest.
Wireless charging continues to be haphazardly supported by various OEMs; Samsung uses replacement back covers to add the feature, while LG’s new G3 flagship takes a page from the Nexus lineup by natively supporting it.
No word on Canadian pricing, but the cover will be available in white and black.
