Some Galaxy Nexus users having multitouch issues

The Galaxy Nexus has had a pretty smooth ride so far in Canada, compared to its rather shaky debut south of the border, but one trait both variants are experiencing is a troubling multitouch issue.

According to a few users, after playing a multitouch-enabled game such as Pew Pew or Shadow Gun the bottom right of the screen will not respond to touch when the left side is being pressed. This means that once you exit from the game and try to enter another one, or to use, as the video shows, a multitouch tester, the phone will not work as expected. The bug only crops up in landscape mode after playing a multitouch-enabled game, and disappears after turning the screen off and on again, but nonetheless the issue is present.

The bug appears to be software-related, which is a relief as many users remember the finicky and, at times, aggravating touch responsiveness of the Nexus One. We’re hoping it’s merely a driver issue that can be fixed with an OTA update, but in the meantime be vigilant when using your virtual joysticks.

We’ve embedded an example video after the break.
