Mobilicity will be officially be flipping the switch on their Calgary service this Thursday. You can expect to see similar grand opening specials like other launch cities had (Toronto, Edmonton, Ottawa and Vancouver). They will have 70 points of distribution where you’ll be able to pick up one of their devices but to celebrate their final launch city they are bringing in some mysterious big guns. The Mobilicity executive team will all be present but according to a press statement there will also be a “local Calgary citizen will be at the event, speaking out against early contract termination fees and the high cost of wireless in Calgary.”
We can only assume that this local Calgary citizen is some sort of Canadian celebrity and not just an ordinary Joe off the streets. I’ve compiled a list of famous Calgarians of who it possibly could be: Jann Arden (singer), Elisha Cuthbert (actress), Paul Gross (actor), Melissa O’Neil (Canadian Idol winner from 2005), Kyle Shewfelt (2004 Olympic gold medalist), Jamie Salé (Olympic gold medalist)… am I forgetting anyone important?
