Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Gingerbread update coming this week?

The little Android that could just keeps on going.

Almost a year and a half later, the X10, a device that most never thought would be upgraded above Android 1.6, is ready to receive the newest version, Gingerbread. Sony Ericsson’s Facebook page confirmed this news:

“The launch of the 2.3 software for X10 is getting closer, and the planned release date is approx. w30. The date could still be changed, since the launch is depending on operators approval. The software will be rolled out continuously, just like the earlier 2.1 release. The exact launch date is depending on market and operators approval, so it will unfortunately not be possible to give precise information on launch dates for each market/operator. You will get more information once the roll out has started.”

The ‘w30’ in the quote is short for Week 30, or July 25th-July 31st. We can expect it to launch at any point in the week, though Rogers customers will have to wait just a bit longer for carrier certification and such.

Anyone with this legacy Rogers or Mobilicity device hungry for some Gingerbread?
