With Apple releasing the iPad on Friday, Bell sent out a release today with their iPad data plans… They are the same as what Rogers announced a couple weeks back: $15 gets you 250MB and $35 gets you 5GB. Still no Unlimited plan here in Canada.
There is one good difference when it comes to going with Bell as they are offering a promo that goes until August 31st that gives Mobile TV at no charge for all Bell customers who activate iPad (usually it’s $8 a month).
You’ll be able to get more info here at Bell when their iPad section goes live.

Compared to a couple years ago the pricing isn’t bad.. but it’s really disappointing to once again feel like there’s no viable competition.

LOL @theninjasquad, I was just going to say the same thing. Identical prices offered by multiple companies; this is what passes as competition in Canada.

Why get an Ipad then when I could just get a 200 buck netbook and tether it for the same price with Wind, but actually get unlimited.
No doubt you have to be on contract too.

Why..why do they even try.. Just get the Wifi Edition.. screw them no one really needs the 3G version of the iPad.. Also why would you want to get an oversized iPhone/iPod Touch…and yes I have played with one when I was in the States a few weeks ago and that is what it is an oversized iPhone/iPod Touch..

The only good thing about these plans would be if you had more then 30 days to use the data.
I still don’t understand why no one offers to bulk buy either minutes or data and be able to use it until it’s gone.

@ Matthew,
I said the exact same thing a couple of days ago on mobilesyrup, and read the comments I got about disagreeing with the iPad.

I agree that the competition is just pathetic, but then again, Bell wouldn’t have offered those plans if Rogers didn’t step up first.
These plans are better than any other mobile internet in Canada by FAR (re: 5GB is usually $80).
I am now laughing at all those who flamed on the Rogers RedBoard forum at their prices and said “I’m waiting for Bell/Telus”… well, there you go. The followed Rogers’ lead because they’re actually good plans.

These plans are better then what we normally had BUT you have to remember we have been paying exorbitant fees for too long..!!
Again, given the fact that there is no real competition at least BELL has added the mobile tv promo for a few months to help us move to them…!

Just a thought check out this site. Click on rocket stick and let us all know if you still need unlimited data.
5 gb is a retarded amount of data and you have bigger problem that data costs in canada if you even come close to using 5 gb+wifi.

Mathew: But the great thing is that it is an oversized iPhone/iPod Touch.
Adam H: Actually it’s called collusion, rather than following Rogers’ lead.

Bell = Rogers = Fido same pricing is actual Price Fixing. What do we have a Competition Bureau for?? Harper should be all over this…maybe corporate donations are more important to the PC Party than the voting public.

VODAFONE Hutchison Australia has thrown down the gauntlet in the battle for Apple iPad customers by unveiling an unlimited prepaid data plan ahead of this week’s launch of the hotly anticipated touchscreen tablet device.
VHA will offer customers an unlimited prepaid data plan through its Vodafone brand for $49.95 a month. Excess data will expire every 30 days so customers will need to recharge monthly.
Vodafone’s range of prepaid only plans also include a $9.95 plan for 250MB of data a month and a $14.95 a month plan with 1GB of data.
VHA’s 3 mobile brand has unveiled both prepaid and postpaid plans which start at $15 for 500MB of data.
VHA’s plans compare favourably with rivals Telstra and Optus. Earlier this month Telstra said it would offer prepaid data plans for the iPad starting at $20 for 1GB of data.
Optus is offering prepaid options starting at $15 for 500MB of data but customers have to first purchase a $30 starter pack. Its postpaid plans start at $20 a month for 2GB of data.
