We wrote about a few devices that both Rogers and Fido will be getting this quarter, but it’s always nice to get some conformation! Thanks to our friends over at Future Shop and their Cellshop magazine we see a couple new devices: Samsung Flight and the Motorola W388.

The Samsung Flight will be available through Rogers and the design looks very much like a Palm Pre. It has the same overall shape with a slide out QWERTY keyboard and has a 2.8 inch touchscreen display (resolution of 240×320). The Flight also has a 2 megapixel camera with video capabilities and can hold up to 16GB with a microSD card. Overall dimensions are 4.17 x 2.2 x 0.5 inches and weighs in at 136 grams. Pricing should come in under the $99.99 mark on a 3-year contract.
Fido will be releasing the Motorola W388 and is a basic entry phone that kinda looks like the Renew but without any of the feel good recycling aspects. The W388 has a 1.8 inch display (resolution of 128 x 160), 2.5mm headset jack, dedicated music key and can hold up to 2GB with a microSD card. This also comes with a very basic 0.3 megapixels VGA camera, digital zoom with no video capabilities. Overall dimensions are 4.29 x 1.81 x 0.58 inches with a weight of 92 grams. Rumoured pricing is $15 on a 2-year contract and $65 Month-to-Month/Prepaid

I’ve got a 2 year plan with Rogers (a good one) but I was thinking of buying a Storm2 or Motorola Milestone, which Rogers doesn’t sell. Can I buy it elsewhere and unlock it, then use it with my Rogers plan? Thanks for your advice!

Of course you can use unlocked phones with any carrier! Just make sure you inform them that you have an unlocked phone so they can properly sync it up with the network.
ALSO…when the heck will fido get with program and get some more touch screen phones(besides the iphone)!I’d switch to somewhere else but I have that old $40 City Fido plan.
