Nokia Siemens Networks appoints Rajeev Suri as new CEO

Suri_Rajeev_221x131Originally when Nokia Siemens Networks acquired Nortel’s LTE and CDMA assets for $650 million, CEO Simon Beresford-Wylie said the “good economic sense”. However, the days past and the merger fell apart only for rival Ericsson to snatch up the assets instead.

News came down the pipe that Beresford-Wylie is “stepping down” and the Nokia Siemens Networks Board of Directors has appointed Rajeev Suri as Chief Executive Officer. He will take over effective October 1, 2009. Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, Nokia CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nokia Siemens Networks said “We began a comprehensive succession process when Simon shared his desire to depart at the appropriate time. That process has made it clear that Rajeev brings the right values, experience and industry expertise to take Nokia Siemens Networks forward.”
