Who’s ready to Tab again? In addition to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, 10.1 4G, and 8.9 LTE, Canada will soon find a place in retail stores for the Tab 7.7 Wi-Fi.

The Tab 7.7 is the Wi-Fi version, sans LTE like Verizon in the States announced yesterday, but measures in at only 7.9mm thin (0.31 inches), with a weight of a measly 340 grams. When this is released, we’re only informed that it’s “coming soon”, will run Android 3.2 Honeycomb with TouchWiz and there’s no word on when it’ll be upgraded to 4.0. The display is a 7.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus with a resolution of 1280×800, packs a 1.4 GHz dual-core processor. The camera is a 3MP rear-facing shooter that captures 720p HD videos with 1080p playback, and a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling. As for the design, it’s almost a mirror image of the previous Tabs that have been released, but the backing is brushed metal, which makes it look a bit more upscale.

We’ll find out pricing and getting a better idea of the launch date for you…

This needs to be priced right and it will be a success. The exynos 1.4 ghz is still amazing and the Super Amoled+ display (198ppi for this tablet) is incredible, but if they charge 500$ for it, it won’t be a big hit.

This needs to be priced right. New Asus 7 inch ICS tablet announced yesterday will only cost $249.

I thought everyone was saying the 7″ playbook was too smal, I think Apple said the 7 inch would be dead on arrival due to the size. I guess RIM got the size right since everyone seems to be making a tablet in the 7 inch range now, they just got the execution wrong.

There is nothing wrong with a 7″ tablet but people expect them to be cheaper. As other said, with the upcoming $250 Asus tablet, nobody can expect to sell a 7″ tablet for $500 any more.

Also, Samsung can offer 7″ tablets because they also have 10″ tablets so everyone is pleased.

I bought a 7″ Acer Iconia and love it. There are something that I dislike about it, mostly the viewing angle and battery life but otherwise like the 7″ tablet. I’ve also got the original iPad and one of the reasons I bought the 7″ was because it was a pain to carry the iPad around (heavy and too big).

The 7.7″ S-AMOLED+ screen will look sick :)

    Hope this is under $250.

$249 Asus tablet??????? When was this announced?????????

Guess I’ll end up having the entire Tab lineup now. Original 7″, 10.1 WiFi, 8.9 LTE, a Note, and now this. But hey, who needs to eat when you have great tech?

If this was out now, I’d return the 10.1 I bought on Dec 31 to replace my 7″ tab. I love the faster speed and 3.1 vs. 2.2 OS…. but I’m finding the 10.1 too big for a lot of situations where i used the 7″. I did find the 7″ a tad small so the 7.7 would be PERFECT!

Unfortunately “coming soon” might mean 6 months from now. I don’t think i’d be able to return my 10.1 and steal the 7″ back from my wife in the meantime. : (

… I guess the only solution is to win one in the inevitable Mobilesyrup device giveaway draw. ;)

Having given a run through of the line of next gen Samsung tabs (from 7 to 10.1 inch) the 7.7 was my favorite. The size is perfect for casual use, the system very snappy, and it actually has a higher build quality than the others (in my opinion). If they update this to ICS (more likely a *when*) it will be a sweet little device.

Negri Electronics is selling them for $668.50 for 3G/Wifi version 16GB
A bit steep, but this looks great and I have one on order.
Should replace the kindle fire which I loved but was a bit too heavy for my liking

Just brought a samsung galaxy tab 7.7 (wi-fi/4G) from hongkong. came with 16G internal plus a free 16G microsd card. cost HK$5088.00 (CAD$655) no tax.

Does anyone know when the Galaxy Tab 7.7 will be available in Canada, should one buy the 7.7 or the 7.0 Plus….thanks

  • Kerry

Been googling this for a month now, debating on the 8.9, or more likely going for the 7 plus, but would much rather teh 7.7. I found out with the captivate that “coming soon” could mean a year later. All I find when googling is verizon wireless’ release. Checked one out yesterday across the border and I do like the 7.7 alot better. Noticbly lighter, better screen as people may have said earlier. With what I read is a much better battery life 12 plus hours. The price on the 7 plus has dropped considerbly and I’m wondering if this might be a sign that the 7.7 is coming, or if its due to best buy’s current issues with dispatching stores in coming months

  • Al

I am wondering the same thing. I really want the 7.7 but I don’t want to pay the inflated price to import from the UK or US. Any idea when it comes to Canada? Anyone!? PLEASE!!!!

  • mike

Any update as to when we can buy Galaxy Tab 7.7 in Canada?

I mean Galaxy Tab 2 is here to replace them… but I still want this model!

  • Jake

    Still none?
