I did everything from the site it didn’t do nothing but nuke all my recently downloaded apps and went back to 1.6, which the backup never had an option to choose (saving the apps)
wow disappointing, and yes I’m rogers shouldn’t they provide the upgrade?

Thanks for breaking this before anyone else did! I used Update Service rather than PC companion this morning after doing the ritualistic check for updates. Just me or does it seem that the keyboard is a little more responsive? Thanks Mobile Syrup!

Official update ends at 2.1. You won’t be able to get any further update even if you are rooted. Please stop giving people false hope.
Unless somebody builds a ROM from Android source code, specifically for X10 (like Cyanogen did for other old htc phones), X10 users will NOT get any further update!!

yep the phone is abit quicker. Through and the keyboard is better because of an improved refresh rate for the screen so its less laggy.
I’m having battery troubles though. Like I lose battery when I’m charging… I gotta play around with it some more but I’m worried.

Odd, PC Companion shows there’s no update available right now, when I check on my phone it says it’s up to date, but when I plug it into the SE Update Service it picks the update up immediately. Way to have a fully functioning system going on SE.

Use the Sony Ericsson Update Service. PC Companion doesnt show it. It works great. First app for downloading is Angry Birds.

it’s funny to see X10 users get so happy receiving 2.1
X10 has the same spec as Desire, N1, etc. yet they are done at 2.1
very amusing joke Sony Ericsson!

Congratulations on your acceptance to Android 2.
I look forward to the next Android OS comparison chart and see 1.6 shrinking to nonexistence.

I just updated my phone and now whenever I’m using wifi the phone restarts. I used to do that but not that frequently. Anybody facing or now about the restart issue?

Anyone having any issues updating the X10 mini? I’ve tried using PC Companion & SE Update service and both tell me I have the latest software but it’s still 1.6

For some reason I found this more complicated than it needed to be. Probably had more to do with an anxious child distracting me about making her breakfast
A few things..
I updated using the companion
The companion has an option to look for phone updates “the next time you plug in your phone” If you’re not seeing the update yet look for it.
When downloading the Back-up and restore make sure your Market Place is setup to download and install from unknown sources. Also, if you’re browsing the the m.sonyericsson.com/backup use the default browser. you won’t find the utility otherwise.
Also, for some reason I missed that when plugging the USB cable back in you leave the phone off and hold the back button.
My phone does seem a lot more responsive now.

Forget 2.1…the devs over at XDA have managed to install 2.2 on the X10!!! They are releasing it to the public next week!!!!

@Brian only an i***t would assume that 2.1 could enable a feature which is hardware dependent!!
Sony decided not to include multitouch because they would have to pay a fee to Apple for the patent!! Sony one of the only cell phone makers who are not being sued for patent infringement!! Multitouch is overated anyway!!! As long as Angry Birds works fine on my X10 then I’m cool!!

Oh the phone is definitely more responsive, I was having keyboard issues when clicking on A,Q,P and L, sometime they would forward space/backspace instead of pressing the letter. This issue seems to be fixed for me. The battery life is definitely better, even with using live wallpapers.
If the phone seems sluggish at first, that is normal. It will improve after the first few hours.

I cant find an update for my X10 Mini. I have tried going through the settings Menu,Media Go, and Pc companion but it continually stated I have the latest software?
I’ve done the off phone thing and back/usb many times.
Any suggestions?

This exactly why I did not get an upgrade phone with Rogers. I bought (outright) a HTC Desire Z, which came with 2.2, and will be further supported. Rogers Android commitment is really weak!

I like 2.1 a lot, very slick. I wish we had 2.2. just so we could store apps on the SD card. But I’m happy enough with 2.1. I still have 2.5 years of my contract left though, so hopefully I’ll still be able to get relevant apps for my phone in the meantime.

I confirmed today with a custommer that doing the update might JAM the memory card to a LOCKED state where you cannot write or delete to the memory card anymore and must do a HARD format on it (from a PC) to do anything with the card again (except read).
Just a warning!
