Huawei has announced that it will debut its first 5G-enabled smartphone in Q3 of 2019.
5G is the fifth generation of wireless technology superseding 4G LTE, with faster data rates, lower latencies and more.
This 5G-enabled device is likely a Huawei Mate brand device — either the Mate 12, or Mate 30 depending on what the company calls its 2018 Mate handset.
The 5G handset will also use the Chinese company’s own 5G modem.

Huawei revealed the world’s first commercial 5G modem, the Balong 5G01, at Mobile World Congress. Alongside the 5G modem, Huawei revealed a 5G device that powers wireless-to-the home service that is currently in commercial trials with Canadian telecom Telus.
Huawei looks to be providing both 5G network equipment to service providers as well as 5G-enabled hardware.
The Chinese phone manufacturer predicts that there will be 40 billion personal smart devices and 100 billion 5G connections around the world by 2025.
