Valve insists Steam Machine and Steam Frame still coming this summer

Even though it's still yet to confirm how much it will cost, especially after a recent massive Steam Deck price hike

Valve has confirmed that it still plans to launch the Steam Machine within the next few months.

In a blog post, the PC gaming giant reiterated that it will release both the Steam Machine and Steam Frame “this summer.” The company unveiled the devices last November with an early 2026 launch window, but delayed them to “the first half” of 2026 in February, citing global memory shortages.

“The limited availability and growing prices of these critical components mean we must revisit our exact shipping schedule and pricing,” wrote Valve at the time. Unfortunately, even four months later, we still don’t have pricing for the PC console or VR headset.

Given that the Steam Deck recently just got a hefty price increase (to say nothing of many other gaming devices like the PS5 and Switch 2), you should probably prepare yourself for eye-watering price tags for the Steam Machine and Steam Frame.

In other news, the Valve blog post that mentioned the “summer” window also confirmed that its “Verified” program is coming to the Machine and Frame. The program is currently used on Steam Deck to signify how well a game will perform on the handheld.

While you wait for the Machine and Frame, Valve also recently launched the Steam Controller, although it will cost you $150 in Canada.
