Pokémon TCG Pocket reportedly pulled in $1.3 billion in first year

Players have opened more than 18 billion packs

The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket recently celebrated its first-year anniversary, and it seems to have been quite the lucrative year for the mobile title.

According to AppMagic, which offers market insights on apps, accounts for in-app spending from Google Play and the App Store indicate that TCG Pocket pulled in nearly US$1.3 billion  (C$1.827 billion). This would beat Pokémon Sleep, Masters, Cafe ReMix and even Pokémon Go, making it the highest-grossing debut for a Pokémon mobile game.

However, if you’ve been keeping an eye on TCG Pocket, this might not come as a surprise. TCG Pocket had more than 10 million downloads in its first 48 hours.

The Pokémon Company released a video in celebration of the anniversary, and indicated that players have opened more than 18 billion packs, competed in 12+ billion battles and have made 96 million trades.
