Bell launching Samsung HSPA netbook December 11th

samsung-bell-netbookWe thought that Bell releasing the Nokia N97 and the Android-powered Samsung Galaxy was a busy enough week. However we were incredibly wrong as they are set to release the Samsung N310-3G (HSPA embedded) netbook.

This will be available in “Deep Blue” on Thursday, December 11th and will be sold exclusively at Best Buy locations across Canada (We’re told it’ll be in the computer section). Also according to the document we received you “must subscribe to one of the eligible Mobile Internet with Laptop price plans on either a 2 or 3 year term “and this can be yours for $199 (discounted by $400).

Specs and features of the N310 netbook are that is has a frameless scratch-proof 10.1-inch LED backlight flat screen (resolution of 1024 x 600), Long battery life of up to 9.9 hours, weighs 1.35 kg. The netbook also comes with Windows 7 Starter, Intel Atom Processor N270 (1.6GHz), 1.3 MP Webcam, 1GB Memory and 160GB SATA Hard Disk, Intel GMA 950 Graphics, 802.11b/g/n / 10/100 LAN, 3 USB ports and of course a HSPA wireless modem with download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps.

More info soon…

  1. Is it just me, or has Bell announced new hspa devices weekly while Telus is still touting its launch devices? Is Telus merely biding its time to pull out the big guns when the new entrants launch aka the confirmed hspa palm pre and pixi or the uber cool milestone?

    • Telus has more devices scheduled for launch in the next couple weeks, but overall I’m not impressed with them. They seem content to remain the #3 carrier and in my opinion have not been aggressive enough this holiday season.

  2. It comes with Windoze but will it run Linux and still be able to access the 3G network?

  3. Telus chose to sprint, and Bell is trying to run a mararthon.

  4. Bell has been investing alot of money in both hardware and network since the launch of their HSPA network. Seems like things are “Better”

  5. I wonder who’s going to be suckered into this? $200 and then locked into an expensive THREE-YEAR contract? How about spending $70 more and have NO contract?

A friend of mine bought a similarly spec’d netbook at FutureShop for $270 –with the 9-hour battery but without the HSPA modem. He simply uses his phone and data plan as a modem. Why would you want to pay for TWO data plans and be locked into a forever contract?

  6. IMO this is a sweet little netbook.. larger hard drive and battery than most others out there.
Got it for $199 with a 2-year contract but considering the regular non-HSPA version goes for $499 it was a good deal. I was going to buy a stick, but thought this would make more sense.
