Quebecor Inc. (which owns Videotron) spent $554.5 million during the Canadian Wireless Spectrum Auction last year and plans to launch early 2010.
Currently only 56% of Quebecers have cell phones and Quebecor CEO, Pierre Karl Péladeau, said “We are looking for pole position, nothing less. In the past few years, observers have deplored the paucity of the telecommunication services offered to Quebecers… I am proud that we are getting ready once again to revitalize a market that, up to now, has had a chronic deficit of innovative spirit.”
