Gmail for Android updated with image auto-loading

As promised — and previously rolled out on the web — Google has updated Gmail for Android to auto-load images by default.

The company recently flipped the proxy switch, routing all images through its own servers before delivering them to readers, insuring against malware and other nasties. Gmail used to prompt users to load images from unverified or previously-unknown senders.

Gmail for Android 4.4.2 doesn’t add much else, and the behaviour can still be turned off (though it’s unclear whether the images still go through Google’s servers if the toggle is switched), but it’s nice to know that Google is looking out for us.
